Project Lead the Way

Post

In  August 2014, Stoneridge Elementary became a Project Lead the Way School!  Project Lead the Way is a program that introduces students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts and allows them to grow with confidence and interest in these areas.  The program allows them to be problem solvers and employ critical thinking. Every Stoneridge student, Kindergarten through 5th grade, will have access to this curriculum starting next year.

You can go to this site to get more information and watch a 4-minute video describing the program.

We offer this program to ALL students K-5 and it is within the school day.

The modules vary by grade level but some examples would be Kindergarten students building a structure to withstand force, 3rd graders applying their knowledge of mechanisms and magnetic interactions to solve a design problem, and our 5th graders designing, programming, and building a mobile robot.

Engineering is part of the Next Generation Science standards and we are very proud to have Project Lead the Way to help our students excel with the new standards.  Attached you will find descriptions of what every grade level can look forward to next year. This has been a great program for our students and we look forward to continuing it for a long time to come.
